<i>In vitro</i> antiproliferative efficacy of <i>Annona muricata</i> seed and fruit extracts on several cancer cell lines

Abstract In Saudi Arabia, breast cancer is the second-most frequently identified common malignant cause of death for women. The present investigation was carried out to assess impact different Soxhlet solvent extracts Annona muricata on apoptosis induction in cells. Cell survival estimated by post-incubation cells with extract 24 h using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium (MTT) assay. Acridine orange (AO)/propidium iodide (PI) and 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) staining were employed study cell apoptosis. qRT-PCR also apoptotic genes’ expression, such as BAX P53 genes. results MTT assay showed that chloroform inhibited proliferation MDA-MB-231 MCF-7 dose-dependently. AO/PI DAPI chromatin condensation fragmentation. treated cells, expression significantly increased, correlated increase activity. findings suggest may have been triggered post-chloroform treatment. Combining A. doxorubicin at a 1:1 ratio increased IC50 value (292.3 µg/mL). contained variety substances, including diethyl carbonate (7.38%), 4-acetoxy-2,11-dodecadiene (58.13%), hexadecanoic acid (34.48%), according gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis. As result, future research potential anticancer drug could be suggested.
